So... here I am after 2 years of NoS, 149#- exacactly where I was when I started, and a few # down from last year. Not bad really.
I am trying a small mod from vanilla NoS these days... just that evening meals should not have a starch and should be over by 6 pm. This is not a hardship for me at all, just something to keep aware of in planning. (I am not low carb these days, and eat a big plate of fried eggs and potatoes most mornings!)
Anybody else out there following vanilla except for a mod at supper?
Anybody else modifying suppers?

I don't really consider that a mod, really--I try to keep starch out of dinner, or keep the amount very small, just because it works for me. It's still on one plate; it doesn't really matter what it's composed of (of course, try to keep it healthy!
). I feel lighter the next day without a starch at night, and I don't crash on the couch after dinner. I'm more willing to take a walk or do house work. I just have more energy if I have a protein-and-veggie based dinner.
I've also become pretty creative with "substituting" things for rice or pasta: I've used slightly cooked shredded cabbage as a rice substitute for my stir fries, and spaghetti squash or thin-sliced zucchini as a pasta sub. Usuallly if I make a stand-alone protein (like grilling a steak, or salmon, or chicken--something that isn't necessarily part of a salad or other kind of dish) I'll double up on veggies. So I'll serve a side of broccoli AND carrots, instead of broccoli, meat, and potatoes/rice/etc.
I also can't stop eating at six, because it doesn't work for me--sometimes I don't have dinner ready until 7:00. But I'll be done eating by 7:30 anyway, and I usually don't go to bed until 10:30/11:00pm. Three hours with no food before bed seems like a good buffer.
Experiment with different things and see what works for you! But I'm definitely a fan of no starch at dinner, at least MOST days out of the week.

I don't think either one of those are mods or even necessary. We haven't been having dinner most nights until at least 9 PM and one night last week it was, I kid you not, 11 PM before we had dinner.
But do what you think will work for you.

I have gotten better about waiting for dinner but I would not choose on a weeknight or even be able to wait until 9 or later to eat. I do on weekends because of snacks or sweets or eating out.
Thinking about not having a starch at dinner makes me want to cry. I guess I am still in love.
