Is this cheating ????

For some reason today I have felt incredibly hungry, so while I was cooking our evening meal, I ate the banana that I was planning on eating with dinner. I was so hungry at the time it hurt, so was going for damage limitation (didn't want to start eating unhealthy things), would this still be classed as a success - or have I failed today??????

You did what you needed to do. A banana was a good choice. I don't think that we need to be so rigid that we can't eat when we're actually physically hungry.
Count today a success.

H\i Daisy,
As Jan said, it's excellent damage control. It's not the pattern of what you should do every day, but it's a great save from something worse. Imagine you're playing world cup soccer and just injured yourself blocking a goal.

Thank you both for your replies - feel better now - I had been doing so well and was worried that I had screwed up - glad I can still mark yesterday down as a success.
I am finding No S just great, its very liberating, even though certain restrictions are imposed. I suppose that it is knowing that the S days are never more than 5 days away if you need them.

Thanks Deb - you too.
I have a question for you, re virtual plating. I work evenings (so I can be at home for my daugher during the day) which means I have to leave the house at 5:30pm and I don't return until about 9:30pm. I therefore have to eat my evening meal really early, and some evenings when I get home I feel quite hungry (especially after saying no to chocolate all night that my colleagues have offered me). Do you think it would be within the rules of No S to save the piece of fruit or fat free yogurt that I usually have with my meal. In theory I would just be removing the fruit from my plate and eating it later when I returned from work.
I don't want to eat the whole meal late in the evening as I find it uncomfortable to sleep on a full stomach, also it would be much harder to resist all the treats that get passed round in the evening if I was hungry.
This is my second set of S days and I really don't want anything - the only treat I might have is some fruit later - isn't that odd - before in my old diet days I would crave chocolate and snacks all the time, because they were not allowed, now that I can, I don't think I really want them!!!! Can't say that I'm unhappy about this though.
Hope you and your son have a great weekend - and thanks for all the help and support you offer everyone - you're a wonderful lady.

Aw thank Daiz!
Turning down chockies all day???
Good for you!!!
LOL..
Have some today!!!

I think your plan sounds good....
It's the random acts of snacking we want to obliterate...
If you plan this out as a real meal event it's not a snack...
Do what you feel will help you in sticking with NoS and making it work in your life...
Thanks for your kind remark!
Enjoy the day!
Peace and Love,

Deb

i read somewhere that it is ok to have more that 3 meals if you need to,
and due to your scheduling, it sounds as if a 4th mini meal is in order..
good luck !

Thank you both for your replies.
For the rest of the 21 days I am going to try not to have anything when I get home from work, because I think it may just be that I am eating from habit rather than hunger. I'll see how this goes, and if I need to add a mini meal in the evening I will.

Hi Daisy - Let me echo everyone else by saying I think you made an excellent choice eating a banana. Munchies (chips, crackers) are my downfall, especially in the evenings while I'm preparing dinner, and I wish I were more judicious in selecting something more sensible if I feel I must eat something NOW. If you are so hungry that your stomach hurts, I think it may even be better to "cheat" by having a piece of fruit than risk diving face-first into your meal and possibly overeating. Think of it as a pre-dinner salad

.
We should all hope to be as disciplined as you!

Thanks Terryval
I don't think I have ever been called disciplined before - but long may it last.
Kind regards D
