*** AUGUST 2014 CHALLENGE ***

I had to change my August challenge for reasons explained in more detail in my thread but basically I got very sick for two weeks and am now recovering but I don't want to focus on dieting at all so I am doing two other challenges - Looking After Myself (LAM) where I do something nice for myself every day and Adventure per Day (AD) where I try something new everyday to incorporate some adventure in my life, no matter how tiny the adventure is. I started last Friday as that was when I recovered enough to go out into the world again. There are no S days.

August
15 LAM: going to wholefoods buying my favourite goodies; AD: Going to the Japan Centre and buying lots of things whose descriptions I don't understand and making Chicken Terriyaki myself for the first time.
16 LAM: Staying in as I still felt run down; AD: Trying a new variety of popcorn (Red Popcorn)
17 LAM: Staying in again and watching some films; AD: Trying a new ice cream and watching a thriller/horror movie - that was enough adventure for me ;)
18 LAM: I had a wonderful lunch (Stone Bass on a bed of dried tomatoes, olives, and potatoes; AD: I had said lunch at a client meeting where for the first time I was sole responsible to get them to launch an event with us. Exciting.
19 LAM: I watched Maleficient and absolutely loved it! Another great Disney Film with a wonderful message (just wish the bad king didn't have to die). Brilliantly acted and wonderful cinematography and effects. AD: so that was a bit naughty. On my way home I felt tired and the train was so stuffed with even the standing bits being completely crowded that I walked right up to first class, sat in a lovely and half-empty apartment for half an hour (1 stop) and enjoyed myself. Obviously, I didn't have the right ticket but thankfully no one checked and it did give me a little thrill. I won't do it regularly as I believe in paying so the train companies have the money to upgrade and unfortunately I can't afford first class on a daily basis but that was a little adventure Wink
20 LAM: got home early after a training session I really enjoyed so the whole afternoon was great! AD: I went into a new retro-sweet shop (I didn't buy anything but it made me feel like a child) only when my boyfriend came home he had done the same and brought sweets back! I had 5 sucking sweets but ok, not the end of the world. As you all know, I'm focusing on non-NoS things at the moment but only as long as the habits are strong (not perfect as yesterday shows but strong).
21 LAM: As I was quite sick a lot of my LAM is still about my tiredness. I took a cab home! AD: I finally rearranged my room the way I wanted to and everything looks a bit different, works a bit more smoothly, and is a lot of fun!
22 LAM: taking cab home AD: walking around London as Flamenco was cancelled
23 LAM: BBQ at my boyfriend's parents and finally brought my stuff to the dry cleaner. AD: BBQ at my boyfriend's parents
24 LAM: cinema - The rise of the planet of the apes AD: discovered a new country pub
25 Bank Holiday LAM: Sitting at dinner table in newly redecorated house, candles lighted. AD: Redecorating the house with art and moving furniture around, trying out a new recipe.
26 LAM: Treated myself to a facial. Lovely. AD: Tried a new restaurant with friends.
27 LAM: Got myself a microfiber hair turban to dry my hair in. AD: Sat in a restaurant alone for one hour as I was 30 min early and my friends were 30 min late. Sitting in a restaurant for one hour, holding a table for 3 and not actually eating is a bit of an adventure and I'm quite proud I managed.
28 LAM and AD: Was feeling peckish after lunch and decided to go for a wander when I discovered this wonderful art gallery with a great exhibition. What a brilliant lunch time!

I'm in.
Last month I improved my No S eating from pretty patchy to only 1 red, so just gotta keep on trucking.
14 minutes exercising has still not gone that well, I had 3 reds, and will try to improve on that.
I'm thinking of introducing just one more challenge for August, probably to do with keeping my house a bit cleaner / more organised. I'm still thinking about what that system should be.

I've decided to just track eating and exercise for August, but my challenge this month is: no exercise S days! My thinking is that doing 14 minutes of something every day, rather than 5 days, will help make it automatic. Anyway, that's the plan!

Y'all are rockin' it for August!

Eschano - sometimes I think those hard-earned victories are good motivation to make it through to the next S Day, great job with fighting through it!
