Okay I know this may seem a weird question to ask here, but *hopefully* someone has some tips.

Does anyone know of anything I can do to just get my head away from calories?! Any tips, tricks, advice, ANYTHING is helpful??

I mean, I can't even look at a banana without thinking : "that's about ## calories"... :(

My signature says forget everything you learned, that's a lot harder than I thought!

Maybe rather than forgetting what you have learned you should learn other things about it.

Smell it, taste it, chew it (notice how the taste changes during chewing), feel it - everything you can learn about whatever is in front of you. Then remember: calories are bs - as calories don't equal calories and there's a lot more to a healthy, balanced diet than that.

I'm a former yo-yo calorie counter who came to No S in part to get away from all that. I've been No Sing for 2 years, and I can promise you, it gets better. Much, much better.

Keep in mind this is a long process. I know it's exciting to read Reinhard's No S web page or his book and think "yes, I want that, NOW!", but getting rid of "diet head" and old diet habits and mentality doesn't happen in a snap of the fingers. You can't "unknow" information. If someone asked me today, I could still remember how many calories are in a medium hard boiled egg. The difference is that now I don't give a ****.

Start small. Try cooking something new that is hard to estimate (like a casserole or curry) without checking the recipe or labels. Eat a plate or bowlful and enjoy it. Eventually, you'll start to forget to look, forget to measure, forget to add up.

Finally, No S doesn't require you to not count calories. There are some posters here who combine the two. It's not for me, but you can be successful No-Ser even if you can't bear to leave calories behind.
