This is hijacking the forum a bit, but it seems a bit in keeping with the spirit of everyday systems in its simplicity.

Here is a link to a site that allows you to declare ONE word as your ultimate resolution for the year. I chose one but am already thinking of changing it. I am vacillating between "welcome," "gentle," and "safe."

I can't get the email to work to change my word, so I suggest those of you who aren't sure give yourself some time.

FOCUS.

This applies to much more than just my eating plan. I am guilty of not being too good at finishing what I start, then jumping to the next best thing. So in all aspects of my life, I am going to stay more focused over the next year.

No S is going very well so far. I am really enjoying the N days. I am learning to like the feeling of getting hungry, so that not snacking does not feel like deprivation. The one S day I've had so far, this past Sunday, was quite tame.

I love this idea.
I'm choosing "nurture".

This sprang to mind easily, since I'm expecting my second child mid-year. I realised that it also nicely touches on a whole lot of things I want to do, quite apart from nuturing my children:
  • Nurture myself with healthy food, movement and rest
Nurture my creative side by making time for my craft and art endeavours
Nurture loving relationships with my partner, my family and dear friends
Nurture other newborn mothers in our lives, or anyone else who is facing a big challenge and needs support while they take it on.
There are a lot of people around me who are going through struggles of one kind or another at the moment, with their mental or physical health, with relationships and changing family situations. I really believe it is deeply refreshing to my own spirit to nurture others who might need it.

My word is MODERATION.

Easy to type, not so easy for me to do.

I'm going to work on it.

Mine is SATISFACTION.

What I mean is, searching for and planning new, interesting and delicious recipes and meals. This is a biggy for me, since I have a tendency to throw together a seemingly satisfying, easy meal, then get up from the table faintly dissatisfied, often being tempted to *eat something else* with dessert i.t. back of my mind.
Before NoS it wasn't absolutely necessary, or so I thought, to have truly satisfying meals, because I'd have the sweets afterwards...Now, as an NoS-er I still have a tendency *to forget* that I need to make the best of my 3 meals, no way out during the week with a (quick and easy to come by) super delicious sweet something at the end of the meal or later as a snack. It's still diet head working underneath, sneaky, sneaky.

After all this time NoS-ing I still have to remind myself at times what a blessing it is to have total freedom re food, and be able to experiment with and enjoy endless...international dishes...maybe even learn about new eating cultures.
Aah, culinary freedom surely tastes good. :P
