Though the same tactic backfires for most people (research shows shamed overweight children weigh more two years later), the rest of the article- sober info- is going to be preaching to choir here. But since there's a lot more preaching on the other side, I'll take it where I find it.

Reminds me that "Gluttony" is still one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
I'm so tired of all the diet fads and cults out there that I found this article to be a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I'm tempted, when someone tells me they only eat "Paleo", to say "Oh, you live on acorns and grubs?" Excuse me, but I doubt our cave-dwelling ancestors ate almond-flour pancakes dripping with agave syrup. More likely they ate whatever they could get their hands on that was remotely edible to stave off imminent starvation.

That was a great article. I found it interesting how vehemently people will argue against eating less and then perpetuate this idea that people aren't even capable of doing this. Maybe this constant message that we just aren't able to eat less psychologically keeps us in this endless loop.
Kindness is the only way.
I definitely think I was convinced that it was somehow dangerous to my psyche and possibly even my body to use my will to eat less. That held me back for years!
