Stopping Smoking

Well, it's not technically stopping smoking because I did that years back but I got equally hooked on electronic cigarettes and vaping. GGGRRRRRRR. Am now on an eight week program to wean myself off nicotine that is run by the health service here. What works for now are a low dose nicotine lozenge and so technically breaks the No S rules every time I have one between meals. However for me it is vital to do this program and for it to work. The last time I did it and was free for a year or so before I had that 'just one puff' on my vape pen, I had the lozenges then bought Extra Strong Mints. I substituted the lozenges at the end of the program with these Extra Strong Mints as both are mint flavoured. The first few days saw me eating lots of mints but it soon calmed down to the point where I stopped the mints and substituted those for mugs of tea (milk no sugar!).

Please give me your permission to do things this way for now and rid me of the guilt of non-compliance bearing in mind that it is for the greater good - lol xxxxxxxx

Of course you can have the lozegens! It's about getting healthier - breaking free from an addiction is like a sick-day S expection for me. Whatever gets you there.

Thanks Eschano,

I just needed another person to say it was OK! How silly! Weird how our minds play games with us!

Thanks again :D

Here's another one! Do what you need to do to stop smoking! The whole point is to avoid behaviors that lead to mindless overconsumption. I assume you will be aware of any urges that come up to bend the other rules and realize they are just the lozenges- and possibly the lack of appetite suppression from the smoking- talking. Have your lozenges, have your regular-sized meals, and breathe easy!

Agree with eschano and oolala. No S is about being moderate and being healthy, not making ourselves crazy nitpicking the rules. Well done you on doing what you need to do to quit smoking - a fantastic step for your health. Perhaps consider the lozenges a medication, not a food, if that helps?

You are doing an amazingly difficult thing. Be nice to yourself and do what you need to do for your greater good. :) clearly, right now, the issue of smoking is a bigger issue than a handful of lozenges. Good luck! !

Losenges are not food ! I used to smoke and I LOVED IT! I also loved the patch...omg the craziest dreams ever...and I loved the horrible gum better then the losenges. I was probably using the gum for two years after my last cigarette! Now I LOVE NOT SMOKING ! Anyways I guess my point is you are doing GREAT and you are going to be so happy when you can look back and this part is all behind you. So GOOD FOR YOU and have an awesome day ! 😊
