Back in No S land

Hello, I joined in 2009, I think and posted maybe 5 or 6 times. I read all the stuff through, and over the next 6 years I lost 40kg,( 80 pounds?)and took up endurance trail running.

Now it has not been all NoS, I have been eating a plant based diet for much of that time, and a few other diets as well. And there have been long periods of certainly NOT no S-ing. But for much of the last 6 years behind everything I have done has been the basic principles; treats are treats, eat them on the weekends; don't eat between meals; don't have seconds.

However, I have started to overeat again. I had a very bad fall, running downhill fast, and had to take a running break (stitches and other boring stuff) then I went on an overseas trip....holiday time! Eat! And what with one thing and another my weight is creeping back up. I am now back up 8 kg. I wasn't weighing myself but I started back running this week. Not only do I not fit all my running clothes anymore, but I feel so fat and heavy out on the trail. So I weighed myself...aaaggghhhh

I am only running very slowly as yet and doing a lot of walking, but I was out for 2 hours this morning. So that is the exercise back again....although I am nervy running downhill!

Now to tackle the overeating....and we all know how to do that!

So here I am...a 53 year old menopausal woman, trail runner, mum of 3...now mostly all grown, just celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary, and soon to be slim again. (I went from a high of 110kg in 2010 to a low of 70kg in 1012, maintained 2 kg either way....until now.... 78kg....)

Welcome back . . . I think? Of course, I'm sure you wish you didn't need to check in again but here you are and I'm glad you knew where to come to.

Hi Tacodiscos and Gingerpie, good to meet you.

Yes I'm sorry I had to come back too, but on the other hand, I've done it before, I can do it again. And it's better to catch it now rather than wait (weight!) until matters get really bad.

And maybe I have something I can help others with as well.

Taco, what do you do to work out?

A lot of times it's easy to stay on No S if you have a familiar daily schedule. Then when something changes or you go on vacation, it can throw things out of whack and then all of a sudden you're not doing No S anymore. If you are prepared in advance for these changes, it can help you stick to No S.

Although I have gotten derailed a bit by being off-schedule, so to speak, I've also been able to stay with it in unusual circumstances often as well by appealing to my inner moderation, which I regard akin to the inner drives of thin people, who tend to navigate most sitations in a way that keeps them on balance with small bumps. It helps that almost anywhere I can get a cup of coffee with creamer to let me roll with the punches! That has taken me through several vacations with very few extra S days.
