“Conditioning can happen quickly. In one study, people were given a high-sugar, high-fat snack for five consecutive mornings. For days afterward, they wanted something sweet at about the same time each morning that they had been fed the snack, even though they had not previously snacked at that time. Desire had already taken hold.” From The End of Overeating.

That's after only five days. Think how long it can take to have the effects of that conditioning leave after decades! Good thing motivation and the good ol' prefrontal cortex can cut the knees out from under desire.

And sadly, I think that's called *most breakfast cereals.*

Thanks for that quote - The End of Overeating (David Kessler) was a life-changing book for me to read - I have underlinings and notes all through the book!

I read it close to the time it came out, but it had to cook in there with the stew of all the other stuff. Sweets were my big issue, and for all the warnings, only No S helped me put a dent in them.

I had some last night at a gathering. They were dope!
