Hi Everyone! Do you have those Nestle instant Capuccino sachets where you live? They have coffee, milk, a little bit of sugar, and a few other added ingredients to preserve and make them froth up. Clean Eating (not). They contain 50 calories. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance R

They're an S to me, but it might be different for you. I'd check the grams of sugar. 1 teasp is 5 grams, so if it has 10 grams or less you could say it's like your regular coffee w/ 2t sugar, and possibly justify it.
However, I always find that making things like that special and saving them for S days, and looking forward to them is a really good idea!

I would say that it's not a sweet unless you're guzzling them all day. At 50 calories, they are a little more than a third of a 12 oz soda.

It would probably be better to substitute a real cup of coffee with sugar and milk, since the sachets sound like one of those laboratory-formulated concoctions meant to make you crave more. But, you may value the convenience.

I wouldn't count it because if you put cream and sugar in your coffee it would be about the same. Unless ,like happy hiker said, your drinking them often. I would definitely allow one a day especially if it's what it takes to stay on track the rest of the day.

I have a couple of things like that. I mostly drink black coffee, but sometimes I'll make a coffee/milk drink with a tsp. of sugar, stevia, or splenda. And there are times I will swipe a bit of jam on some toast. I think those things are okay to have occasionally on NoS days but not to make a habit of it.

I got some take-out Chinese food yesterday and it came with a little container of that sweet orange sauce. I felt that a tsp. of that with all the rest of the meal being savory would be okay and fit with NoS. But the weird thing was I didn't even want it at all. Too sweet!! Never thought I would feel that way, but there it is.

The best thing to do is try it out for a period of time. If it supports your goals then it is 'working' for you. You'll find out soon enough.

Can you get sugar-free versions? I'm sure I've seen them, although not for some time. They are far too sweet for me with the added sugar (I wouldn't put sugar in a normal cappuccino!).

Thinking of the Chinese takeaway, I don't tend to bother too much about sauces and condiments, in moderation, obviously. So a little bit of apple sauce with pork, cranberry sauce with turkey, chutney in a ham sandwich, etc., I'd just count as part of a savoury meal. It's not something I do normally. And I always get the impression from the No S book (it's a while since I've read it - I need to read again!) that it's not supposed be sugar-free as such - just no sweets.

Do you feel some clarity on this?

I have a cappuccino with breakfast most mornings. A big one from Maverick stores. It wakes me up and for some reason helps get rid of the aches. I do not count it. It is just part of breakfast. The rest of the day I drink Fresca (now). I like the clean citrusy taste. (I should be an ad guy!)

If I was slurping down three of those cappuccinos a day I would step back and take a look. But one? Nah.

Fresca now? What did you drink before? Or is it because it's summer?

I used to drink Diet Coke. Now I dig Fresca.

I take a container to work with instant coffee and creamer mixed together so that I can 'just add water' to get a coffee. The creamer has glucose powder in it - but it doesn't really taste overly sweet. I don't count it personally. The Nescafe coffee sachets are much sweeter - but I still if a slightly sweet drink helps you get through the day without snacking, then it's helpful.

Fresca is old school! I remember the commercials a million years ago when I was a kid!

Yeah, wasn't Fresca the first diet soda?
