Prayer

Every day I pray.
They call it exercise.

Intention gathers up.
That old, battered body shozs up. Still.
Ebb and flow.
Breath, muscle, joint, skin.
Attention. Falling short. Making it.
Slowly to rest and quiet.

The world is still the world.
The world is new.

May it go on.

The Urban Ranger salutes a fellow self-improvement poet!

Self improvement gurus are a dime a dozen, but poets! That is another story.

Love it, Jackn. being "in" your body...and moving in prayer, on this planet, in the atmosphere and the gravity of earth.

A lovely kind of prayer, exercise. And a lovely tribute to it.

Did you read Reinhard's Urban Ranger poem?

Could a new site be brewing?

I appreciate it, Oolala.

No, wasn't familiar with The Urban Ranger poem till now that you've referred me to it.
It's beautiful.

No, no new calling here.

I went back to exercising about a year and a half ago, after being away for years.
I thought of picking it up again for the 'benefits'.
In other words, that frame of mind of 'putting up with it for the good cause'.
So, it came as a revelation that I felt joy.

It became a guiding light for me - the body: how life was in the body, how long, so long, I had spent upstairs...
I've come to believe that spirituality is in the body, and that spirituality which ignores, belittles or condemns the body, isn't.

The prayer was just the result of one of those moments of overwhelming presence and gratitude.

Every nod in this thread is a gift.
