The most unusual, anti-paleo and anti low-carb mod

Disclaimer: I personally don't use the mod i describe here! For the last couple of years i'm a vanilla No-S-Guys and I don't plan to change that, there is no need. I would recommend vanilla for everyone, but I recognize the struggles: First and foremost, building a “clean” eating habit like “no S” is hard and second losing weight that way is way easier for men! Therefor this is a mod to speed things up and to level the mental playing-field.
The Mod:
Make potatoes the only food on N-Days! Eat 1 to 1,5 Pound of potatoes (3-4 tennisball sized spuds) per meal, three times a day! Eat free on S-Days! Keep doing it for up to one or two month, then change to vanilla No S. After 4 Week into this mod, start urban rangering!
I developed this mod for a former colleague of mine, who was “potato hacking” ( https://potatohack.com/2016/03/12/welcome/ ) at the beginning of the year and was losing weight very fast without any exercise. We are talking about “25 Pounds in a month”-fast here.
I don't recommend that, but there are some benefits to eating nearly exclusive potatoes for most of the time. Regardless if you are male or female you will be undereating (something around 1000-1400 kcal per day). You will losing weight fast. Potatoes are nutrient dense and have a ridiculous high satiety value. They are the reason, why the irish population exploded in the early 1800s (on a diet of potatos, oats and some milk). Hard working men ate up to 14 pounds of potatos back then...
Eating only potatos for a time has a lot of benefits:
1. Psychological Stuff
The only “successful” diet for myself before No S-Diet was the “Burger-Diet”. You were allowed to eat exclusive at McDonalds and up to 1500 kCal per day. I could stay on this diet, because it accepted, that I love fast food. I just had to wait for up to 24 hours and then could eat the food that I loved. It eased up and reduced the amount of willpower I had to invest.
Potatoes are the other extreme: They are bland, boring and...easy.
By elimination of choice I reduce the chance for bad ones. It's not “Do I eat this or the worse form of that” but always: I will eat potaoes! They are tasty enough that I don't start to hate them, but at the same time not exciting enough that i'm overeager to eat. I don't eat potatoes for entertainment, just when i'm hungry. And I will stop when i'm not hungry anymore. There are no “tastegasms” that seduce me to eat more, so stoping is easier.
I can use seasoning, and even some topping, but the main dish are simple potatoes, cooked, baked, raw or mashed (Sorry, not fried, too much oil). You can eat them with some ketchup, with some jam, with some sauce, but the main meal are boring potatoes.
There is no one on this planet, who ever said: “I'm bored, let's eat a potatoes!” or “Great, an all-you-can-eat-potato-buffet!”
You will relearn that food is mainly fuel and you will only eat, when you are really hungry. At the same time you will be well satiated with a very low risk for malnutrition.
2. Physical Stuff
By eating pretty small portions (around a plate per meal) you stomach will “accept” less fillings outside the potato-eating (a.k.a. S-Days).
Warning: Potatoes ain't magical food. They are just the most basic food to sustain a human being for a stretch of time. You could also use rice or other most basic foods.
It's all about elimination of food-choices and a basic sustainability. After 1-2 month of eating mostly boring potatoes the classic No S will fell like decadence even on N-Days.
Like I said in the disclaimer, I recommend this hack for a friend who plans this:
January: Potatoes all days (No S-Days) – Done
February: Potatoes all days (No S-Days) +Urban Ranger -Done so far.
March: Potatoes all days (No S-Days) +Urban Ranger +Shovelglove
April: Potatoes all days (S-Days!) +Urban Ranger +Shovelgolve
May: No S-Diet +Urban Ranger + Shovelglove
So far it is impressive what he did: Eat potaotes for over 30 days, walked the last 10 days something about 10 km, per day and lost around 34 pounds so far. I believe his transition into No S will be a breeze.
