Hum.......I managed to mess up my very first day! I had a snack, and then thought “ what’s the pointâ€.

So I think I will concentrate on snacking as that seems to be my gateway behaviour.

So this week I shall let’s the seconds look after themselves, same for the sweets....except they are ALWAYS snacks too. So if I just tell myself it’s no
snacks this week I may do better.

Hang in there! Mistakes are to be expected at first.

Old habits are hard to break! Next time you accidentally have a snack, be ready for that "what's the point?" question. Many of us celebrate the victories we have on red days, such as not eating the whole bag but instead stopping when we remember, not letting the whole day go because of one mistake etc... Sometimes these types of progress mean more than a "perfect" day. Hang in there!

Thank you for this, and also jenji, I just feel a bit of a twit not getting through the first day! It certainly shows how much I snack on automatic!

Today has gone well though, I found myself looking in the cupboard.....but shut it and made a cup of tea instead. I count this a major victory.

Welcome! It's common for people to chastise themselves, but not necessary. In fact, as most of here know, it's also bafflingly typical to go overboard with small mistakes. It's called the What the Hell effect (literally, that's what researchers often call it) and is one of the main things successful "losers" say they realized they had to get over for success. We help each other with that a lot.

It's perfectly reasonable to wean yourself off the S's one at a time though of course weight loss will be different. But that is more than made up for by the foundation of habit. It's always easier to shave food off then to plunge to low levels and then get stuck. There else is there to go when losses stall?
