I loved this article about why to never eat between meals. Whoever wrote this must be in marketing or sales, because this article sure sold me! (I apologize if this has been posted here before)

Wrote a longish comment that I lost.

Her saying that she felt so much more space for other topics reminds me of an old OA motto that nobody seems to know about anymore: three meals a day and LIFE in between.

Thank you for posting this article! It was great. I agree with so much of it, and I’ve only been doing No S for 7 or 8 months. But I can truly say that eating 2 to 3 meals a day (I’m not much of a breakfast eater and sometimes skip it) with nothing in between (besides milky drinks) has changed my life for the better in so many ways!

Hiya Missy, thanks so much for sharing this article. It’s great to read about someone who discovered a No S-type regime for themselves. And you can tell that she was as random and disordered about her eating as many of us here. The way she writes about boundaries is great - how they freak us out because they feel ‘diet-y’ . They do indeed, and it makes No S feel scary at first. The peace and calm she speaks of is something I would never have believed before I managed to get a few compliant weeks under my belt.

That ‘... and a life in between’ that Oolala mentioned below is becoming more and more relevant for me. A couple of times recently I’ve had a feeling of space opening up, and an invitation to use it without being distracted by food. I thought the food was soothing me because I was too distracted to be pro-active. Turns out it was the food itself that was distracting me.

I, too, really appreciated this article, especially:
I hated the unconscious aspect of all of this, the self-medicating, nonstop orality of it all.
Decades ago, one of my former work partners was trying very hard to quit smoking cigarettes. For months he carried around an empty pipe. Frequently he would say, "I've gotta have my pacifier." Then he would proceed to pull the pipe out of his pocket, stick it in his mouth, and begin sucking on it and playing with it. I was amazed and admired him for recognizing and confessing his (childish in his own opinion) need for oral stimulation.
