The Chain Building Thread

Post by LoriLifts » Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:07 pm

2Poodles talked about using visualization techniques to help stay on plan. She mentioned using a bridge. Here's what Reinhard said...
Another, related way to picture it is as a chain. Everyday you're "on habit", you add a link to that chain. If temptation is looming large and you're considering going off habit, ask "even if one day doesn't make such a huge difference in itself, do I really want to break this great tremendous chain I've been building?"
Here's a place to build your chain. Begin a post with your name. You can edit your post when you add a link. The links can be the zero on your keyboard. Let's see how long the chains can be!

:) Good for you KCCC!

I'll sometimes add commentary on my post too. This will be a good thread for group participation, adding tips and motivation to ensure nice long chains are being built!

So one zero per link. Whatdo we do when we break the chain? Delete all the zeros and s tart over? or put a space between chains?

YAY! I'm starting my chain with 15 0's for each no s day because I am on day 21 and I made my 3 weeks!!!!!

000000000000000000

tigercrane,
I think that if i start s'ing on no s days, my entire chain will fall apart. I liken it to alcoholics and drug addicts. Even if they are clean for years, if they relapse for one day only, their sober date starts over the next day. but that's just how I choose to look at it.

Hmmm.....I think if I break my chain I'll delete all my zeros and start over. I'm also adding a link for my S days, since they are part of my program.

Everyone's chain is personal so do whatever works for you. I think I'll color my chain in green!

thanks for the support! yes, it's easy after the first week for me. this is not my first time, so i know I can do it. whenever I fall off the plan, I KNOW i'm doing it and make up stupid rationalizations. this last time, I fell off big time, letting myself go up 15 pounds in 3 months!!!!!!!!!!! (just started nursing school, I deserve it, it's christmas, blah, blah, blah). But I'm back!! and I am down a solid 3 pounds in 3 weeks!!! I love no s!!!

Lori,

I love how you've turned this offhand remark into something concrete and practical!

Looking forward to seeing some long chains here!

Chiquitabanana...I know that No S is the perfect fit for me too. I'm so confident about this program that I sold all my "diet" books. I don't need them anymore, this is the way I'm eating for life. Good luck building your chain!

Thanks Reinhard :D

MerryKat, I like your "s" for s days instead of the "-" .... looks very much like a "decorative link" in a chain, as well as being clear as to what they are! Think I'll copy you next time I edit.

Here was my tiny tiny NoS chain link but I lost it..

My exercise chain:

... lost it too... left exercising too late and then told myself I was too tired.

I found the "No S" web site a few days ago and started using the Habit-Cal and practicing NoEssing on 3/17/08. I'm liking this.

Iggy's chain = 00s000

Hi Everybody,

Look at all the pretty chains! Because of limited computer time, I'm going to stick to my HabitCal. I'll be back to build my chain when I get more free time.

Good luck on your chains!
