Yes We Can!

I was thinking....How about sometimes we say yes instead of no?
For example:
Yes I can have a healthy delicious breakfast.
Yes I can sometimes try recipes from a WeightWatchers (or similar) cook book,
yes I can fill my plate with a fantastic salad berry salad at lunchtime.
Just wondering...

Framing things in a positive way is wonderful in all aspects of life

I like your thinking!

Hungry Girl,
this is great perspective and "nature abhors a vacuum"
No means a void, and Yes fills it with something, I too find it much more helpful to think of looking forward to and saying YES YES YES to my YUMMY DELICIOUS healthful foods that I love then thinking no no no no

I read somewhere that framing things in the negative doesn't work. So when you say "no sweets" to yourself, your brain hears "Sweets."
On the other hand, I suppose, once the habit is all settled in you don't have to keep repeating the no-s mantra all the time.
When I feel like a binge it does help me to think in the positive: yes, I can be kind to myself by piling my plate as high as I like with healthy, nourishing foods. At six o'clock.

Okay...I love positive thinking....and here's mine from yesterday...
Yes, I CAN do errands with a hungry 3-yr old in the late afternoon...I can give her something to munch on and I CAN decide to wait and have dinner at home even if the errands go on and on and on....hearing my stomach growl is a very good thing...it means I'm on empty and I'll eat soon. I CAN make a wise choice to wait....and that feels wonderful...
I want to hear more " CAN's" from you...

What a lovely way to re-frame!
And yes, I know it's hard work sometimes... but we can do hard things.
Yes, I can wait for dinner, even though my husband is a bit late and I am very hungry. The meal is really something to look forward to, and I will spoil it if I snack now. It will taste so much better than anything else I might eat in the meantime!

Yes I CAN wait for an S day and YES I will ENJOY it if I wait for an S day and Yes I function much much much better with the right balance of discipline and freedom,

Love this string of posts!
YES I can change the way I behave around food. YES I can deal with emotions without binging.
