Today is my birthday, and my dear husband got my very favorite cake - a flourless chocolate truffle cake from the local bakery that is truly decadent. I love it, and requested it.
And I had some, and thoroughly enjoyed it. And thought about having more, since it's an S-day and all... but I'm finding that I feel done.
It is very rich, and I think I just don't require as much rich stuff to be satisfied.
Fortunately it freezes. So I can enjoy it over multiple S-days for a while to come.
This is just different. Before, I would have eaten a ton because I can, because I hardly ever get it, because it's a treat. Whatever.
Now, I eat less and enjoy it more. The difference still astonishes me.

Happy Birthday. Great news about your experience with the torte. So different, and so nice.
I had a similar experience last night. We went out to the coop to get desserts and bring them home. I had a small portion of a hazelnut/meringue-type cake, and my husband had German Chocolate cake. It was much too rich and too sweet for him, so he left most of his. After I had my piece, I took one bite of his. And that was it. (In the olden days, I would have finished it up)

Thank you all! I've had a lovely birthday - I feel very cherished by my family.
I did have a second piece of cake at supper... but couldn't finish it. Neither could my son, who asked me to save his for later. (I have done so, and told him that was "good listening to your body." I am hoping he grows up naturally employing the habits I have had to learn.)
The rest is in the freezer. We'll have it another time, and enjoy.

Happy Birthday, KCCC!.
I never had flourless cake, but it sounds too good to pass up, therefore, I'm amazed at your good attitude towards it.
Atta, girl!.
