Today I was reminded on another board of something I used to do--try to focus on eating less. Only, there's no definition of what "less" is--and as soon as I would start trying to eat "less," it would catch up to me that I felt deprived & then I would eat MORE! Now I don't have to figure out what less is--I can just think, "did I eat my meal, or didn't I?" Did I have my plate full? Well, then I know I'm not deprived. That little voice inside never has time to garner forces against me--it no longer has ammunition, because I know I ate, and I know it was enough, it was satisfying, it was good.
I even went without dessert at 2 public functions this week! That's a first for me! But I really didn't feel deprived--hey, my day is coming and I'll enjoy it then--and I don't need to eat every dessert that passes in front of my face. I used to.

Merry,
I agree with you that the "portion control" approach to weight management is almost diabolical in its ability to get you to eat more, not less!
What is special about this diet is the S Days!
