This sounds like just what I need....Ive been buying a new diet book each week in a panic becasue my weight is climbing due to emotional eatting. (I'm staring down a divorce within the next 6 months) I just cant get a handle on things. Any progress I make just seems to backslide. I know emotional eatting is a seperate issue and Im working on it. I still think this will be the way for me tho.

Welcome! I think you'll find that this actually helps a lot with emotional eating. Once you have such firm and easy to remember guidelines, and in the habit of taking the option of eating off the table (as it were) you start to deal with it in other ways. (Like laying on the bed weeping - not that I speak from experience or anything.)
It can take a few (or more) false starts to really establish the habit, so don't get discouraged if you don't execute perfectly right off the bat!

Tigerseye,
WELCOME! I have been a serious "emotional eater" almost all of my life and NO S has been the perfect antidote ... it SHOWS you very clearly and precisely when you are emotional eating ... i.e. if you are eating more than one plate at a meal on N DAYS or snacking, eating sweets and/or seconds on N Days you can just about COUNT ON THE FACT that uncomfortable emotions are expressing themselves as "hunger" ...
once you "get" that ... it is easier to ward off those RAVENOUS emotional HUNGER pangs and as Gingercake so eloquently points out ... Lie on the bed and weep ... always much more effective than a bag of cookies or whatever your preference!
