Way to track weight loss?

Well, it's time to start tracking my weight. I finally got myself on the scale (it has been about 2 years since I've weighed myself), and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have about 12 pounds to go. Can anyone suggest a way to track current weight and goal weight with a chart? Excel? I would like to attach it to my daily check-in if possible.

Thanks!

You can create a free online graph on this site and update it once in a while to track your progress.

I use it and I am pleased to have found this tool.

I use Excel . . .what I like about it is that you can fit a trend line to the data points which shows a nice downward slope! I find looking at that very motivating given my daily weigh ins are all over the place.

If you want to see what it looks like, I uploaded one to my daily check in - - it's probably just a few posts up from the end.

The negative is that it is a bit of a pain to get in a format to post it here . . .but am happy to help (Redhead helped me!) if you go that route.

apomerant, it'd be nice if you could upload your Excel file somewhere so anyone who is interested could download it and use it as well ...

That's a good place to upload files. You upload it there using your e-mail address and then you have a link that is generated. People then download the file directly to their computer. The file is available for one week and then it's automatically deleted from their servers, I think that's how they operate.

That would be appreciated.

I'd be happy to share! I'll look at the site you mention and see how it works.

Hey Marc,

I checked out that website, but it doesn't seem to work the way we want it to. It is more of a way to send large files to a specific person i.e. an email address is required.

It's a shame this message board doesn't support files as there are so many FREE messaging groups that do (Google Groups, Yahoo Groups).

My suggestion is that I just email the file to whoever is interested. If you leave me a private message here with an email address, I'd be happy to ship it off. If you are worried about sharing your email address with me for any reason, you can easily create a new, free one on Yahoo or Gmail - - and I can send it there.

Awh ok, I guess it would be easier if you could send it directly then.

Thanks a lot, I'll send you a private message !

I have a program that I use that I like a lot. It is called "Weight Commander".

They have a free trial program.

http://www.weightcommander.com/

I bought the full version a couple of years ago. I don't remember what it cost, but it was only a few dollars. It is easy to use, and it has a number of useful features.

Omigosh! I just went to weight commander and entered all my weekly weigh-ins since 1/28/2009! It's fantastic! Thanks for recommending it.

One thing I like about Weight Commander is that it will show you what you will weigh in the future (if you continue on your present course). It is showing that I am losing slowly, but steadily! :)

That sounds interesting. Do you just enter a date in the future and no weight?

P.S. What do you know! I figured out the quoting thing!

Hum, I think it predicts how much you will weigh 3 months from now ... you enter some previous numbers and then the system predicts your weight based on that and your level of physical activity.

I thought the prediction was quite optimistic actually. I entered all my numbers and my level of activity (off the chart !!) and it basically predicted I would weigh 195 pounds in 3 months ... no way !

I'd have to lose 9 pounds per month during the next 3 months to achieve that ... I think I'd be happy with just half that result. ;-) I would have to starve a lot and train like crazy to do 9 pounds per month in may-june-july.

I plan to weigh 195 pounds in 6 months ... not 3.

I like the graphic/design on this site I found too, I am using it now. The chart looks better in my opinion, ;-)
