Sparkly emeralds

Many of us were discussing emeralds on Vigilant's check in. I think it was Mimi and Thalia who suggested it... Wouldn't a sparkly new emerald look great on your finger? It could be for a reward and a reminder to keep your habitcal green! I personally think I'll get one when I get to half way and use it as a visual reward!

Nice reminder and good for the economy as well. lol !
Maybe you can buy an emerald green GM car as well,
Renee ??

Cheers !

Ha! And have one of my kids crash another green car? Did I say that?

Funny you should be the one to post on here Marc... we were lobbying trying to find someone to buy us all sparkly green emeralds! Your name came up.

Yes, it did! And I like your car idea, so you can get me an emerald-green Prius. With a bike rack, so I'll actually use my poor neglected bike.

I prefer white gold please, and make it big.

Oh, and I drive a big ol' Suburban... I'd like some fast sporty thing with a metalic touch. Maybe spinny hubs.

Yea, Vigilant and I have just started doing weekly rewards for keeping our habits green! She has earned a bicycle and some accessories already. I bought a cute little pair of sandals this past weekend for my green behavior and posted about how motivating it was to glance down at my feet during the day - a visual reminder to keep going.
Well, Thalia, brilliant as she is, suggested gettingGREEN jewelry - emeralds or jade - as a visual motivator.
Next thing I know, Vigilant is visualizing a sparkly emerald ring on her finger as a No-S milestone marker, like say for a one year No S anniversary - a reward for something really special. I thought about maybe for Christmas (partly because I wouldn't have to buy it for myself!) marking 8 months of NoS.
So now...here we all are...setting our sights on emerald rings! Brilliant! Can't wait! What an awesome thing to work for!
Anyone else want to join in the fun of working for green jewelry?

*I'm Dreaming of a GREEN Christmas*

P.S. It took me so long to get this on here I just noticed all your posts lol
Marc, you're in trouble!!

Geesh, how much do those things cost ... lol ! I guess I'll have to sell my car. ;-)

This thread is a lil' too 'girlie' for me, ;-) Where's the thread where young men are talking about last night's hockey
game ?!? :-)

Cheers !

Oh yeah, Marc needs a second job. I'm thinking of emeralds like Angelina Jolie on Oscar night.

And the guys can get, um ... green socks? You could probably get a green iPhone or something, couldn't you?

Yea, we'll all chip together and buy Marc some green socks!

Oh... I just remembered that my daughter has green sparkly fingernail polish.

Maybe I should just get green flip flops.

Hmmmm I'm not much for jewelry these days.. Massage made my wrists and fingers too sensitive to wear my old beloved silver rings, and I don't even wear pendants or stuff, like I used to, around my neck, cos I don't like the feeling of anything on my neck..

But it's a great idea to reward yourself!

How about each time I lose 7 lbs I buy myself a small houseplant???
That's green!
By the time I get to my goal, I'll have a very nice assortment of plants!

I would totally chp in for the "green socks fund."

That's a great idea too! And look how much healthier your living environment will be with all those plants *breathing* with you!

Seriously, the reward idea Vigilant and I are using has really been helping me...just a little something to work for each week. The first week we did it, I bought flowers - all my flowers for outside the house. Now I go out each evening and water them instead of sitting inside and eating!

Talk to ya soon!

Marc... any special order? Maybe you want some bling on it for sparkles too?

Oh... and earings. I could think up a very long list of green things to reward myself. My birthday is St. Patrick's day, so I love green things.

I dunno guys... It seems a little unfair to just offer to get Marc some green socks when he's got to go out and get a second job to afford all these emeralds!!!!
LOL
What about a green racing suit to go with it for his bike rides????
Then he could be "The green extreme riding machine!!!"

 Debs

A bright double lime green colored racing suit...Maybe those little old ladies would see Marc coming and get out of the way so he doesn't have to ding.

Green flip flops, yeah !! ... and I'd wear 'em with white socks on of course, kickin' it old school, Like in the 80's. ;-)

It's a good idea to reward yourself when you achieve something great ... not with bad food of course, you can get something healthy that you wouldn't normally have ...
like lobster, shrimps, etc.

I've been doing that too, a restaurant nearby makes awesome chicken breast salads. I've ordered some a few times already, maybe once a month, as a special treat.

They are awesome, delicious and good for me too, I sprinkle the salad dressing myself so I know not to put too much on there. Great dinner then I have a couple of my beers, a glass of wine, sitting back, taking off my GREEN FLIP FLOPS and watching a movie ... ;-)

Cheers !

Marc ;-)

Another green stone to add to the mix here, which is actually considered "lucky" is Jade. :D

Oh yeah Renee...that's it!

And Debs...we'd better hold out on the jade...my son travels to China for work (although he just got back recently, so won't be going again for awhile  ) and brought a beautiful piece of jade jewelry back for his grandmother that cost a *fraction* of what it would here.
Maybe I can take orders and send him on a shopping mission next time he goes!

You guys are crazy! Some people would think we didn't have enough to do!!

The idea of bedazzling a sledgehammer so that shovelglove can be performed in style!!!   Hilarious!

MMmmm, emeralds, jade, maybe peridot for any August birthdays out there...plants...flip flops. You guys are brilliant! Here's some other options in terms of jewelry:

I think I'm really really really gonna do this! And Mimi I do hope you get yours for Christmas!

In the meantime, anyone that wants to join in as far as tracking/discussing/celebrating the weekly rewards system, please feel free. We can even make a thread on here just for that purpose.

You are too cool Vigilant!

I LOVE your new avatar...it says it all!

We really started something with our little reward system, didn't we! Who woulda thought?! :o

I really think it would be fun to start a *weekly reward* thread to see what other folks are working for...might get some good ideas!

Stay green girl!
Talk to ya later!

I actually have a little emerald pinkie ring somewhere, I shoudl get that out! I don't like the feeling of rings on my fingers, other than my wedding rings. But it's worth a reminder I spose! Neat idea!

Ha! We think alike, Shamrockmommy! I dug through my jewelry last night looking for a green ring (when my husband came into the bedroom and found the bed covered in stuff, he thought I was losing it  )... BUT I found one and am wearing it today!
Not an emerald, but malachite - and doing the job today!

I looked too and found none. I'll go put on another reminder ring instead. White gold anyway. maybe it's time I organize my jewelery box too! I have never done it. :?

I love the idea, but Emeralds might be the wrong level of granularity for beginners. Seems like it would take a LOT of compliance to get to that level. Ditto a car.

Fortunately, cash is also green.

We need some moderation [no] sugar daddy to pay a dollar for each day of compliance.

Perhaps financed by us paying him back 3 for every failure (new meaning to the phrase "in the red").

Clever, Reinhard, clever!

What? No comment about the *rhinestone bedazzled sledgehammer*?

Maybe you should have rings (green ones) added to the Everyday Systems Store...sorry, couldn't resist!

I love the NO sugar daddy!!

I think he might end up looking a lot like a jolly Saint Patrick's Day bookie though. Or at least, in my case. And he might want to break my legs after a while.

Here in Denmark there is a kind of charm bracelet where one buys different beads to put on the bracelet. The one I have is made by Pandora. Does the same thing exist in the USA?
This Friday I'll be buying myself a green bead as a reward for being a 3X repeater to the 21 Day Club. They have a lot of charms with green stones that I plan to buy for myself as I reach personal goals in No S. It's cheaper than buying emeralds...

Yes...it was me, because I can! I own one and love it - it's a great NoS reminder and a very attractive ring as well! Here are the links to the ring with either rectangular stones or round ones:

Have fun shopping - being snowed in like we've been increases online shopping! Just dug out from under two feet of snow and we have another 6-12" coming tomorrow...we may get back to school one of these days...

Bumping this thread because I think that it's a great idea to reward ourselves with something GREEN and sparkly! If not a ring, then maybe a charm bracelet? Green ear-rings?Green beaded necklace?

WHEN I reach my goal my wedding ring will be much too big. As DH and I were dirt poor when we married, my ring is steel and can't be made smaller. I'll get an emerald solitaire in my new smaller size to keep my wedding ring on.

Hum, an emerald ring, that's worth a lot of EFFORT ... for now I think a lot of people should settle for sparkling lime green DIET JELLO instead. 69 cents for a whole box, wow. Great treat, few cals ! :-) I can add a bit of kiwi fruit chunks in there if I need more GREEN STUFF, hah.

Remember you have to be persistent, losing weight takes a loooooong time, gaining weight can take 2 minutes if you lose your cool eating a big tub of ice cream and cookies at lightning speed. That's why it's so crucial to focus on the big picture, not to be good the whole week and then give up on the weekends. Definitely requires a lot of discipline and it's a tough thing to do long term with all the junk food temptations around and the fact it's so much easier not to exercise and take it easy instead.

Cheers !

Marc ;-)
