First troll!

Yesterday, for the first time since this bulletin board was set up in 2005 (and even since the yahoo email group in 2002) we had a "troll," someone who posts antagonistic stuff merely to bait people into responding.

On one hand, I would have preferred no trolls ever, but on the other hand, one troll in 7 years is not bad!

I'm also very happy no took the bait and replied. You are a very savvy (and/or gentle) crowd!

Much as I hate censorship (at least of human beings, spambots are another story) I deleted the troll's posts and his account. If he should create a new account, or should other trolls appear, please just ignore them. I'll delete them as soon as I become aware of them -- and don't hesitate to email or PM me if I take too long.

Reinhard

Maybe we'd be meaner if we were hungry.

Or didn't have such great senses of humor! (Good one, Liz!)

Yeah, we are all mellow because proper eating is getting our blood sugar under control.

One troll in 7 years .... I hope the moderator is not exhausted ! :-)

Losing weight is quite difficult so it's good when people are positive and supportive. Sometimes you have to use TOUGH LOVE methods of course (like when a personal trainer is berating you constantly for example !!) ;-) ... but in the end, it's all about people trying to reach a goal, losing weight and feeling better about themselves.

Thanks for all the good support people give here in general, plenty of tips, tricks and tools as well (Especially the habitcal, great way to monitor your habits !)

Cheers !

Marc ;-)

What I am doing should not be misinterpreted as being a typical 'No-S' diet experience.
11/01/2008 : 280.0 pounds
08/05/2009 : 199.0 pounds
( 9 months 5 days / -81.0 pounds )

Goal : 11/01/2009 : 190.0 pounds ( 1 year / -90.0 pounds )

Dang it I missed our only troll. Is there a way to get an email notification of "New Topics", or can you only get notifications once you visit? I was just wondering cause some forums have a link at top to 'subscribe' to the actual forum.

Don't feel bad, jumbotights - as much as I'm here (probably too much!), I missed it too!

Reinhard, you must have been right on top of this one!

Liz, you crack me up! :) But you're probably right - we're nicer on this plan than on many others we could be on...

Was it the guy saying that he liked the "pretty colors" in the August challenge thread?.
At first, I thought it was you and that you had changed your username, because the picture in his avatar looked a lot like you.
But then I wondered why would you do that and why would you talk like that.
Hah!, first troll; I can't say I like them much though.

Yes it was him. His sig phrase was also offensive to Reinhard specifically and Christians in general. I'm so glad we all gave him the attention he deserved, NONE. Reinhard made quick work of him too. I'm sure if we all just "go about our business, nothing to see here" than the likelihood of another is slim since we don't give them the rise or attention they are seeking.

I guess I'm kinda in a fog from hunger...

I thought he was maybe just mentally challenged AND generally offensive. I didn't put 2 and 2 together and recognize him as a troll.

I saw it and found it offensive,
but just judged the poster as an extremely ignorant and offensive person.
It shouldn't be repeated here.
I think it's important for us all to forget it immediately.

I saw it too and chose not to respond, dunno why. I guess I've had enough experiences battling it out with people or seeing people battle it out on forums that I don't even give them the satisfaction of replying. And the comment was hard to even read so I figured he must be looney and/or stupid.

It's a good thing I was off line, and *not hungry* either hahah Guadopt

Wow, the one troll in 7 years and I missed it.
I lost my home connection, so I'm at the library at the moment.

Whatever they said had to be a load of bs..
Hope to be back online at home again within the week.
Miss everyone.
Had to attend a funeral this week. My Aunt, who was only 51 years old, and left behind my Uncle and their two Sons in their twenties.. very sad.
So I'm off track but am getting back on.
Have a nice weekend and see you all again soon hopefully.

I saw it and opted not to respond to him because I knew Reinhard would take care of it. I forwarded the heads up to him just in case he didn’t see the thread. It's the fact this place is so friendly, clean and flame free that we've only had one troll in this long a time. I think we just keep doing what we're doing and they won't ever be much of an issue. I won’t be posting in this thread again; he’s already getting more attention than deserved.
