I'm (probably) stopping NoS

I have an appointment with a doctor to discuss gastric bypass surgery. (Don't know which type, I'll give him preferences and let him pick.) I'm OK with the 45 lbs. I've lost, but it's been 18 months, I'm still in pain, I'm still taking meds for HBP, meds for depression, meds for pain, meds for other things that might be weight-related.

I still think this is a great program, but it's more a program for those who want/need to lose fewer than 50 lbs. I like that it's about habit not food. It's been nice not having to write down every mouthful I eat, figure out if something is OK or not, and being frustrated.

What I don't like are people here who think losing 150 lbs. is like losing 15 lbs. It's not 10 times as hard, it's 1000 times as hard.

I probably would have had more dramatic results if I had been able to put more physical activity into the mix, but when it hurts just to walk down the hall, walking 3 miles...heck, even walking when you don't have to...is out of the mix. Days I've walked extra are days when I find it hard to walk at all that night.

Good luck to you all. I think the habits gained here--no sweets, no snacks between meals, no seconds--will be good ones to have post-surgery.

WouldYouEva,
Good Luck with your Gastric Bypass. Image

I don't know if you are aware that I had an open RYN 18 years ago,
Post-surgery, I lost about 100 lbs;
kept about 80 of that off, and then...finally, 13 years later,
began dieting again to lose another 75 lbs to get to "normal" weight.
I am now in my 5th year of maintaiing my goal weight.

If I had the surgery choice to do over, I would do it again.
I've found that to be true of almost everyone I've ever connected with who had the surgery,
AND I've connected with hundreds.

Nevertheless.....even with the surgery....it takes a great deal of effort to maintain your weight-loss.
I've written more about this in my Thread,
and if you would like to discuss it more personally with me,
please PM me at any time.

I believe that anyone who is friendly to the concept of NoS is welcome in this Forum.
I hope you remain here, even though you are not chosing to use NoS for yourself right now.
A few years from now, it could be exactly what you need.

Just sending very best wishes for increased health and enjoyment in life.

(I do hope you stay around too - but for reasons I recognize as selfish!)
