I had been on a diet a couple of years ago and lost 60 lbs, I started swimming daily and changing a lot of bad habits that I had picked up over the years along with all the weight. Slowly, I've sort of slipped on how and what I eat and I noticed that I've started to creep back up on the scale and my clothes are fitting more tightly. I needed to do something, but I decided I didn't want to be on another diet and that I had to figure this out. I found the No-S diet online and think it is most reasonable solution I've heard. I'm a brand new member, so I could use a little advise from all of you because I have a problem that I can't quite figure out.

I have been following the no-s diet for 13 days. I have followed it pretty much to the letter and I have been up 2 pounds, down 2 pounds and back and forth like this for this whole time. I cannot figure it out. I can't imagine how I can be playing one step forward and two steps back when I've eliminated sugar, snacks and seconds for 5 out of 7 days. I have started to track my weight every day and can say that this is pretty typical regardless of it being an S or an N day. Have any of you had this experience? Can you tell me where I'm going wrong? I do not want to give this up and revert to a diet...but I was very successful.

Thanks very much! Kathleen

hi

I am a newbie to the no S diet, but not to dieting in general!!

I just wanted to say be careful weighing yourself every day, the littlest thing can impact your weight on a day to day basis, like water retention, salty food, etc.

I find it quite disheartening to weigh myself every day so I only check my weight once a week, usually on a Wednesday before breakfast.

sorry i cant be more help, do you have a food diary? some seasoned No S'ers might be able to check your N days and see if you're on track...?

clarkekam if weighing every day is driving you crazy, don't. There's nothing WRONG with weighing every day, but this diet is often sllllooowwwww. (Part of its effectiveness, but my word can it be frustrating when you're used to starting off a diet with a big bang).

I HAVE done the weigh every day thing. I also plotted it in Excel with a 30 day moving average to get an accurate trend line. If you're not willing to go that far, then weighing less often is a good idea.

I personally weigh once a week now. And I STILL see a pound or so variation. (Cycle, etc.)

If you've started an exercise program, your daily weight is going to be all over the place. When you're a bit sore, for instance, your muscles are storing a bit of fluid. This effects weight, even if you're losing fat.

Depending on your height, age and diet history, you might wind up losing something like a half a pound a week or so. SLLLOOOWWWW. Too slow for even a medical scale to track with any great accuracy except over a period of several months.
