good changes

Eight and 1/2 weeks on strict vanilla, I have noticed some great changes. These changes did not happen last year when I lost 12 pounds with a calorie counting mod. I have decided to give vanilla a good long year to see what really happens.

I just wanted to mention two good changes: I used to eat until I felt full. Huge mistake. With no seconds, I have come to really accept that "fullness" is coming in about a half-hour to an hour. I leave the table feeling like I could still eat, but I have a calm confidence that I don't need to. In the past, without No S, I found it hard to skip seconds because I had not fully realized this fact. I think a big part of the reason I notice it more now is that I was really hungry to start with, and the contrast of hungry to full is so obvious and pleasant. It's no longer about waiting to feel done tasting good stuff at a meal (which never happens). It's about going from hungry to full.

Change two, maybe even bigger: I don't like to spoil my appetite. After weeks and weeks of getting hungry before meals, I much prefer a good appetite.

Sanity!

I agree that food does taste much better if you are actually hungry rather than just feeding yourself constantly!! There is a balance between having a little hunger and getting so hungry that you go over the edge. It took me a couple of months to find this balance.

I very much second the sense that being hungry can actually help you eat less at the meal. I find it is the exception that I want to eat more when I get ravenous. I just want to eat faster, but I fight that urge, and satiety comes with about the same amount of food, or even a little less. So I think sometimes getting really hungry can be good, but it's all about the ups and downs smoothing out to the average.
