Just stumbled upon this and think I'll give it a try

Post by busymom » Tue Jul 12, 2011 7:07 pm

Just thought I'd say hello. I'm very interested in giving this a try. I have always been really bad about feeling deprived on a "diet". Then because I feel deprived I give in and eat junk. Then because I already messed up I really go all out. I really like the idea of S days :D

Hi, how are you making out? I have about 6 weeks now, my S days have been over the top, but getting less and less. It really can give one a sense of sane living without the diet mentality.

I believe I had one Red day so far, which is not bad...glad the S days don't count :).

Here's to sane living.

I'm there with you. I just started Tuesday of last week. I've been a fan of French "dieting" and intuitive eating, but I haven't managed to make either stick.

French dieting makes sense, but it's just not realistic for me, in rural TN, with a job and commute, to cook from scratch all the time. Heck, I can't even get full-fat yogurt at any of the grocery stores in my area, much less anything fabulous, like patte (not that I could afford it if I could). And we have a small home, and my husband's work table is in the kitchen; we don't have a table we can sit at for dinner.

Intuitive eating makes sense--eat when you are noticeably hungry, and don't eat when you're not--but if you've been eating whatever whenever, you don't even know what real hunger feels like anymore. Something I've noticed over the past few days is that, when waiting for a meal, I feel real hunger. I didn't used to let myself feel that much hunger, which probably means I was snacking way more than I ever thought!

I think the No S Diet has the same, rational principals (no forbidden foods, no counting, no weird hate relationship with your food) as the other two systems, but it has simple rules that anyone can follow anywhere and in any situation.

Good luck!

This really does combine the best of intuitive eating and structure, which I think helps for social purposes. Please also notice on the board we have another person who left the fold because of slow progress and ended up gaining weight. Take advantage of the focus on habit change rather than weight loss. It's always easier to get tougher later.
