Aldo Leopold

Post by Blithe Morning » Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:54 pm

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Art Hawkins who was married to one of Aldo Leopold's graduate students. Aldo Leopold is a conservationist who wrote some fairly important pieces in the conservation movement - The Land Ethic being chief amongst them.

Anyway, Mrs. Hawkins was telling me about how once at dinner Aldo Leopold served the thinnest slice of duck she had ever seen. There was no overeating at his table. It was an interesting personal observation about the man. And once you get to know his work and his stories it's in keeping with his personality. He came from an age that was very self controlled and this extended to his eating habits.
