Forum Request?

Post by Who Me? » Sun Aug 21, 2011 4:59 pm

Would it be possible to "tweak" the forum, so that it "remembers" where we left off reading in a particular thread. Much as I love reading what people have to say, I do not enjoy scrolling down, down, down to find where I left off reading. (This gets particularly mind-numbing on daily check ins.)

I know this is technically possible, because several other forums I use have this feature. Can this board support this feature?

Do you use the link that let's you look at just the posts since your last log in? Works for me.

I'm doing that. Maybe I'm not phrasing this query correctly.

Once I'm in a post, can I jump ahead to the part I haven't read yet?

Who, at the bottom of each page there's an option that allows you to change the page display: change "Oldest first" to "Newest first" - that should do the trick

I am trying to find a way to avoid having to scroll all the way to the bottom of each page.

Who Me - I understand what you're asking, and yes, it can be done.

Instead of clicking on the thread title, click on the arrow at the left of it. That will take you to where you left off reading.

(I was on this forum for YEARS before I learned that!)

KCCC, I've been here for years too, and I still don't know about this.
I don't see an arrow at the left of the title thread, what am I missing?

Bright Angel,

You will only see it on threads that have new posts since your last visit. It's that little yellowy-orange piece of paper looking thing to the left of the thread title.

Okay, but don't you still need to scroll all the way to the bottom? Am I missing something?

This was all new to me too, but when I went to view posts since last visit, I noticed the little Yellow orange rectangle to the left of each title and touched it....too cool...jumps straight to new post.

It's jumping to the first post I haven't read for me without any scrolling necessary.

Thanks. I never knew this was available and have looked all over for a way to get quickly to the bottom of a page. You do have to be logged in to see the orange arrow. Most of the time I just read the forum without logging in so it took me awhile to find this jewel!
