What is the difference between "no s" and "vanilla no s" ?

Where does vanilla come into it?

Thanks

In the US, things that are plain are sometimes referred to as "vanilla". As in, "Her outfit is plain vanilla".

Vanilla NoS is NoS done without any modifications or changes.

Vanilla No S is No S exactly as written, with no modifications.

No S includes vanilla No S, but also includes No S with mods added.

I'm doing No S, but, since I've added some mods, I'm not doing vanilla No S.

Is "vanilla" in this sense an Americanism? I hadn't realized!
