My Recent Bloodwork...

I almost didn't start this thread, but then I thought about it & realized that we all need encouragement. So....I'm here to give you the results of my recent bloodwork.

Here's my background....

I am...
51...
Have PCOS...
Have had dysfunctional relationship with food literally all my life...
I've homeschooled my kids for the past 20 years so I'm near the kitchen constantly...
I started swimming three hours a week in June...
I am taking Red Rice Yeast, Garlic & Fish Oil...no other medications...
I re-started NoS in June '11

APRIL LEVELS............................NOVEMBER LEVELS
Cholesterol....219......................Cholesterol...155
HDL....31.................................. HDL....30
LDL....153..................................LDL....104
Chl/HDL Ratio...7.06...................Chl/HDL Ratio...5.17
Triglycerides...175......................Triglycerides...103

My weight was also down, but because of my past obsession with the scale I've chosen not to know the numbers.

So there it is...my 7-month journey summed up on paper. Needless to say, my dr. is very happy with my progress...and so am I. I'm more determined than ever to beat this thing. I might be losing weight slowly, but I'm getting healthier and stronger...I can't, and won't give up.

Wow! What an amazing testimony! My DH needs to get his cholesterol down. He is slowly, slowly, slowly coming around to No S. This gives me hope.

Too Solid...Thanks so much for kind words...

Reinhard...It feels wonderful to see my health increase. The benefits of this way of eating go so far beyond weight loss....but you already knew that! :)

Thanks so much for not only writing your book, but providing this forum...I wouldn't be where I am without the amazing support I've found here.

Blithe Morning...I never would have thought I could report these changes in just 7 months, but I'm so thankful to be here doing it. I hope your DH soon sees the benefits of this sane way of eating. I'm finding the whole journey pretty amazing.

Thanks everyone!!!

Thank you for this post. I had blood work done after 3 months on No S and thought it would be better. It was actually worse than my blood work the year before. I was discouraged even though that was not a very good indication of how I was doing. I had not been on No S for very long, and I gained a lot of weight in 2010. Therefore, the previous test done in early 2010 was done at a time when my weight was lower than it was when I had the next test in early 2011.

I was dreading a new test which I will need at my next doctor's appointment. Seeing your results gives me hope.

Thanks again!

Excellent. Men's Health ran an article several years ago about swimming, and according to the research, it appears to be the best exercise a man (and woman of course, sorry, it was Men's Health... ) can do.

Congratulations.

Thank you all so much! I can't tell you how much your "Way to go"s have meant.

I hope you found these numbers encouraging....we can do this. All of us can do this. We may be on different schedules, but we CAN succeed....

Thanks again...you're all wonderful & I'm thankful for every one of you.

Hugs all around...
