I know what the No S Diet is, but what is the "Vanilla" No S Diet? I keep reading it in people's posts and would love to know what it is! Thank you in advance!

Vanilla No S refers to sticking to the basic rules with no modifications. No snacks, no sweets, no seconds except sometimes on days starting with S.
I am a strong believer in Vanilla No S. I lost 45 lbs my first year doing Vanilla No S. I recently started allowing myself one small modification. I sometimes flex my S days instead of taking a non weekend special day. I do not recommend any mods in the first year.

Thank you! So Vanilla No S just means that you're doing the basic No S diet:
no snacks, no sweets, no second helpings except on days that start with S and Special days, right? I didn't realize that there was any other way to do it! I just got my book today, so I'll get busy reading before I ask any more questions. Thank you again.

Don't forget about yet another S - sick days.

It's just as well that you don't know there is any other way to do it. I've been on the boards for over two years and I think I can say that the majority of people who start messing with Vanilla No S in the first 6 months don't find the mod that works any better. A fair number quit and come back again in a year or so, swearing this time to go Vanilla.
And then of course, people quit and we never hear from them again. I would venture to say that the majority (not all) are still heavy or heavier than they were.
No S is about week after week, month after month, plate after plate. Some will be bigger; some, smaller. Over time, many smaller, if you are paying attention to true hunger and satiety. If not, not much else will help.
