Is a Calorie a Calorie?

This article appeared at pbs.org and is based on the book Why Calories Count: From Science to Politics by Marion Nestle and Malden Nesheim.
"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do. Not that the nature of the thing itself has changed but our power to do it is increased." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"You are what you eat -- so don't be Fast, Easy, Cheap or Fake."

And, people do not get the same calories out of food like scientists say. Anyone who's ever seen whole corn or peas in a diaper or toilet can see that the center was not totally "used".
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me

If you keep calories low enough you'll lose weight.

I've never seen a "chubby" concentration camp survivor.

However, there is no macronutrient ratio that applies to everybody.

For example, this gentleman lived to 98 on a low carb and booze diet:

and this gentleman, at 75, eats a high carb diet and looks better than 99% of all people:

Bottom line: Use what works for you.
"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."
- Vince Lombardi

Sometimes you need to take one step back for every two steps forward.

Time heals everything!

90% of a diet is 60% mental
