That's an acronym offered by Dr. Oz - I just happened to skim the article while reading something else - for identifying emotional eating.
It's a quick check on emotions. Are you...
Frustrated
Lonely
Anxious or
Bored
As some wise person on this forum once said, "if hunger is not the problem, food is not the answer." But that's easy to forget.
I think this is useful, so wanted to share.

That's similar to the HALT used in recovery circles: hungry, angry, lonely, tired.
I find that my emotional eating happens when I need to process something that makes me anxious. A big project at work for example. Right now, I'm taking a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and it's put me way out of my comfort zone.
I have learned to deal with some of the nervous anxiety by walking. I put my ear buds in, head down and go. I am a pacer, I guess.
