Square Plates

My wife got tired of the plates we had been using for ten years, and while at Sam's Club bought a dinner set of square plates. They are kind of built in a manner that it is really hard to fill them to the edge because of the raised edges. They are almost like a gold pan, in a way.

Tonight I got curious and measured the center of the plate that actually holds the food. From side to side it was six inches, so the surface area for actual food was thirty six square inches.

I guess this gives a new meaning to my portion sizes.
