Random Question

Post by Ruamgirl » Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:02 pm

I have a totally random question that came to mind while I was eating Mexican food with my fiancé. Would the chips and salsa that they serve before the meal work with the one plate rule? Would they need to be eaten with the meal on the plate in order to be No S compliant?

You could virtual plate the chips and salsa. They don't have to be eaten with the meal, but you have to be able to visualize them on the plate with the meal. Does that make sense?

maybe put some on a plate and then save them for the meal? or you coudl put them on a plate and then put the empty plate on your main plate so you can visualize about how much space it woudl take up.

Even three years in, I tend not to eat anything when I eat out until it's all there. At Mexican places, I wait for my meal and then decide if I want to eat any chips with the meal. I sometimes ask for a to-go container right when the meal arrives and put some of the food away then. I don't necessarily always fill the open space, but that's where I might put some chips and salsa.

I'm pretty good at virtual plating so I would have the chips when they come and then have the meal. You have to envision how many chips would be a portion if they were on the plate and stop with that many.
