What counts as success?!

Day 3 of the no s for me. I started Friday, it was a success and an eye opener to see how much I looked forward to and enjoyed my meals because I hadn't snacked.
The weekend is a bit more ambiguous, I decided to allow myself a few planned snacks/ sweets.
So today I had a muffin when we were out for coffee, not too bad, however tonight I had pizza, crisps and malteasers :oops: !!!!
I fear this may class me as a weekend idiot!!!
I also feel uncomfortable going to bed and am looking forward to the next 5 days of no s (although I probably won't be thinking that when I am craving chocolate tomorrow! Ah if only I could bottle the uncomfortably full feeling and sniff it every time I am tempted to eat too much)

So I don't know whether to class my weekend as success or failure? What do other people do?

A weekend is neither a success nor a failure; it's the weekend. I don't think your weekend sounds bad.

Success with No-S is more about establishing the weekday habits than worrying about overdoing on the weekends.

Lol! Well I didn't specify amounts. I had 7 slices of pizza, half a large bag of crisps, half a huge bag of malteasers and half bottle of red wine.
In the morning I had a blueberry muffin.

Saturday I had a large bag of malteasers.

It's all very early days but seems to almost have flicked a switch in my brain. Normally I sneak in buttered toast and chocolate when I am hungry and my other half is out of the house but this weekend I managed to resist even though I was hungry.
So far today has been ok, had half a banana as a snack and a glass of milk, is that cheating??
Has anyone got tips on how to get through stress without eating? I am terrible at about 4pm

You are barely scratching the surface. I don't want to tell you how long it took me before I was not an idiot on the weekends-it was more than a few months, but it's been worth it. Keep up with N days. Don't be in a hurry, but do be strict about N days, and let your body learn it is going to get food, good food, regularly. Get good at life in between your meals and let that permeate the weekends, too.

It's non-compliant or a failure if you want to be hard core about your terminology.

Cheating means to not follow the rules in order to gain an unfair advantage over a competitor. You don't gain any advantage by snacking either in terms of developing a habit or losing weight.

Stick to the glass of milk next time, if you are actually hungry and there is a lot more than an hour until the next meal. If not, forgo it.

Thanks for the feedback. I was hungry and had about 2 hours before food. I am usually hungry about 2.5 hours after eating. I put it down to the fact I am breast feeding my 5 month old.

You might start another thread asking young mothers what their experience was. Breastfeeding might require different rules.

Or you might add more protein and fat to your meals. Both add satiety. Fat is valuable because it adds it with such small volume so you don't feel so bloated.

I've read that moms need only about 300 extra calories a day to breastfeed. That's 50 extra each of protein and fat at each meal.

Both pregnant women and breastfeeders can lose weight healthfully as long as they are eating good quality food in amounts that would support their "ideal" weight. Then extra calories needed will come from extra fat stores, which is what they are there for.
