Just wondering if it's ok to taste test food when you're cooking dinner to make sure it's ok. And if so what is the limit of tastes to keep on track of no snacks? Thanks for any advice.

It's okay to taste while cooking. When I taste, the samples are less than a teaspoon. Usually one or two samples do it, occasionally more are required. I've never taken enough taste tests to consider it a snack.
I rarely taste everything I'm cooking.

My rules for tastes...
- Less than 1/2 tsp.
- Clearly meant for decision-making (as in, "needs salt")
If I'm not going to make a decision of some kind, I don't need to be tasting.
With those rules in place, I don't worry about the intake.

I have come to realize I now trust myself not to lie to myself on this. I think I used to lie. Now I know if I need to taste or if I'm just grazing.
