More proof that what you do on weekdays, not weekends, matters most.

I like this line especially: " Successful weight control is more likely to happen and for the long run if one is not too strict with one's diet but allows for short-term splurges." Though I wish they didn't call them splurges. I think the word connotes unmerited extravagance. It sounds to me like the extras are integral to the long-term process. When you really look at people who keep it off long run, you rarely find anyone who doesn't eat more, and sometimes significantly more, sometimes. Perhaps we should stop regarding those times as slips. It's the WTH effect that's the slip.

It's kind of like the old 80/20 rule...be moderate 5 days a week and indulge in a reasonable way on the other two. It may be slow and steady, but eventually you'll win the race.

This is a really cool study! Reinhard would probably like to see this one. Talk about support for NoS! Everybody's gotta let loose a little now and then, but the regularity of weekdays pays off over the years.

Thanks for posting this! It seemed there was a reason my weekly weigh-in drifted to Fridays. Brian Wansink's work is really interesting, and his book is a really fun read.

I was going to post this last week. It seems that lots of frequently asked questions are answered.
