A Compilation of Movements
A Compilation of Movements
I have really been enjoying the addition of hammer exercises to my other routines and I am always eager to try new movements when they're posted. That being said, I hope I haven't overlooked any as I am a relatively new member. Here is a list of the movements I have gleaned from this forum. If you can think of a move I've missed or have a new one of your own, please add it to this posting. I hope others may find this useful. Thanks in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.--Mike

Thanks for the feedback guys.
David, the "pulling wire/starting the mower" movement sounds interesting. The name alone gives me a visual on how it might look but could you please give me a brief description on how it is actually done to ensure I am performing it correctly? Thanks again.--Mike

Descriptions?
Hi,
I just started shovelgloving and am already addicted to it, been trying suggested exercises left and right, twice a day, morning and evening...I can't believe how my physique and overall feeling has improved in no less than 3 days! It might sound like a bad infomercial, but all the pain in my neck I had from doing chin ups is gone, my shoulders feel more mobile and best of all, i can see improved vascularity on my arms.
Anyway, the compilation above is great, and it would be even greater if someone could add descriptions to each of the ones on that list that are not on the shovelglove home page.
It's funny to think that about 8 years ago, I was a member of a daily e-mail digest called Cyberpump (can't remember the name, but it belonged to that website). I think it was called the HIT Digest. It's mainly a strength training forum for High intensity training, a la Mike Mentzer and Stuart McRobert (bodybuilding for the average everyman, so to speak).
Anyway (and yes I'm almost at the funny part now) I remember one digest where we were making fun of infomercial products, and how the next greatest sell could be to market snow shoveling. We would make special barbells that had a shovel attached to the end of the bar, and use marketing ploys like "It only takes minutes to shovel your way to fitness"...I know, hilarious, right? (nervously shuffles feet in an otherwise silent room...)
Well here I am doing just that and loving it. If only I knew back then...Ok im gonna start a new thread, on martial arts queries...

Welcome, Martin!
That is pretty hilarious, about the snow shoveling. Comic pragmatism: there's something to it. Unfortunately the actually money making part has somehow eluded me
I will eventually collect more info about these moves and publish it on the main movements page, but I'm wrapping up the first draft of the No S Diet book right now and won't have time to get to it for at least another week or two.
In the meantime, if people want to start consolidating some of this information on this thread, that would be great, both for me and for people who are looking for it right now.

and comic pragmatism or plain mockery often abides to the law of attraction the most: like friends who have a silly 'what if' idea for a movie, which actually becomes the next summer blockbuster...That is pretty hilarious, about the snow shoveling. Comic pragmatism: there's something to it.
I think that the kettlebell/clubbell groups make their money via certifying trainers and training people, not just selling books and products (that too, of course). Perhaps seminars could be an idea? Start local, think global...
I'm thinking of some ideas for training moves, moves I would use if I used the sledge as a weapon, such as poking from the shoulder downwards or jab straight forward with the top of the hammer...like stoking the oven but at shoulder height...could be adapted to a javelin throw type of move...
or a sweeping 'uppercut' type of swing, 180 degrees opposite of swiss automaton style swings. you might need to step in with it.
will try to find/steal some ideas from martial arts forms...
