Anyone ever tried a "dead blow" hammer

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

Just curious,

They are sand filled, so I wonder if that would have any noticeable affect on acceleration/deceleration profile. A quick web search found that there are some available with long handles.

Never heard of one!

Sounds promising, though. I think it might give you a more intense workout at the same weight -- and maybe be a little safer to boot.

Not too pricey, either (as long as you don't go with the single piece model)... although I haven't been able to find any with free super saver shipping on amazon. They also seem to max out at 10 pounds, though I'm limiting myself to amazon right now so who knows.

May have to get a hold of one, for research purposes....

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

The do make heavier ones, they are just crazy expensive.

But this is giving me an idea, if I could devise a way to make one that wouldn't fling apart, I could just add or remove lead shot to adjust the weight.
