Returning from the dead

Hey shuggers!

Seems like things have slowed down a little over here, but it nice to see that the bulletin board is still in use!
By the way, it's nice to see the new faces and to notice the real hardcore shugger that are still posting!

For no real reason my shugging days almost came to a halt in the spring and, life being life, I got busy doing something
else (I think I managed to keep shugging at least once a week but still...)

I'm am now back at it, since Monday I've shugged every day (so that makes four in a row). And I intend to continue on
this renewed motivation. I also biked a little less lately, but I'm pushing myself to quit using any reasons to take the car. (My belly
becoming a little flabby is a good reminder and motivator!)

For those who don't know me, I've been shugging since October 2006. I used Little George for a full year
(a 10#), then got Big George (a handsome 16 pounder with a yellow fiberglass handle that I can find even in the dark!)
and I've kept at it since then. I don't feel like I'm going to need an upgrade soon.

For those interested, I'm starting with a routine that look pretty much like the one I had when I bought Big George

I though I would have a hard time getting through the 14 minutes session and all the moves, but it seems that the work out
done for a long time takes a while to loose!

I'm really happy to be back and I'll keep posting!

I like seeing your Shovelglove routine there.

Mine is here, I mix jumping jacks with my Shovelglove moves and I also do pushups twice. Each move, 1 minute : 25 seconds left, 5 seconds to change sides, 25 seconds right. I have a stopwatch with huge numbers on the computer when I train inside. I always liked it better training using the time instead of counting reps.

Shoveling, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Jumping Jacks : 1 X 45 Sec.
Pushups 1 X 50 Sec.
Canoe Rowing, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Jumping Jacks : 1 X 45 Sec.
Fence Post, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Chop Wood, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Jumping Jacks : 1 X 45 Sec.
Chop Tree, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Stoke The Oven, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.

30 second break.

Shoveling, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Jumping Jacks : 1 X 45 Sec.
Pushups 1 X 50 Sec.
Fireman, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Jumping Jacks : 1 X 45 Sec.
Chop Tree, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.
Stoke The Oven, G/D 25-5-25 Sec.

I used a 14 pound Shovelglove for 6 months but now I'm moving up to a 16 1/2 pound ... I've used the heavier one 3 times already. It makes my work outs tougher, which is what I wanted since I thought it was getting too easy with the lighter one ...

Geez, you sure are taking a lot of notes... I don't have anything as detailed as you but as an example, here's this morning routine.

(numbers are for each side)
Shovel coal, 25X (I modified it a little, I shovel coal from the floor with a shovel and throw it in the furnace)
Hoist the sack 25X
Canoe rowing (front) 25X
Fireman 25X
Churn butter 25X
Reap the wheat 25X
Work the waterpump 25X (Phayse's movement)
and another one I got somewhere else where I take the hammer close to the head with my arm extended on the side of my body, I bring the hammer in front of myself in a circular motion (kinda lateral curl), when it is in front of my chest, I change hand and let it go back to the other side of my body. Bring it back and change hand again. 25X
and I had a few extra seconds where I went free style.

That's about it!

Not sure why that never occurred to me to do that myself...

Uh-oh... I feel myself about to spend a disturbing amount of time trying to come up with a naming scheme :-)
