canoe paddling

yikes

I read the theme-based sg workout and added the paddling movement to my routine. Awesmome. Toughest move yet with my 16lber. I do it standing and not on my knees, but the motion really hits a lot of spots: total arm, shoulder, back, etc....

I think it has surpassed the fire(fighter) as my favorite move of the workout.

Hammertime!

Kid,

I like the standing canoe paddle as well. I try to do it with a motion so that the hammer head goes through a full vertical 360 degrees. To truly annihilate my forearms and shoulders I do this one achingly slowly.

I have no idea what "awesmome" is, but you better believe it's better than "awesome."

I'm glad you like it. For some reason canoe has never clicked with me, but it's good to have some movements in general circulation that aren't 100% reinhard-based. When I come up with the movement registry page I'll be sure to stick in an entry for this one.

Try it sitting on one of those huge balls. Serious ab workout

I do this in a wide-stance squat (deep horse stance) and I can really feel it in the oblique abs.
