Blisters and calluses

Hi,

I've been doing shovelglove for just over a month (No-S for nearly four months). While I'm feeling fitter and starting to see visible results from it one of the major drawbacks is that blisters and calluses have started to develop on my hands. What do other shovelglovers do to prevent this? Being honest, I've never done any sort of weight-bearing exercise before so I'm not really that aware of the possible problems and how to prevent them.

Thanks for reading,
Al.

I use gloves (and still have slight, but un-troublesome, calluses -- worker's hands!).

The gloves have made a big difference, though.

Here's the exact brand I use:

Harbinger 143 Men's Pro FlexClosure Gloves (Black)

I'm on my second pair in close to a decade, so they last.

Blisters leading to "macho" hands

For starters i would recommend some gloves like the ones reinhard linked.

But after a while i would drop them and harden the hands.

After i added some more exercises in my "shovelglove" i found this two tipps:

Great links, germanherman.

May investigate the hand-hardening angle further at some point...

When I first started I didn't use gloves, but I found that the combination of heavier hammers and hot, humid weather made things uncomfortable (and of course I wasn't following any of the steps described in the links you posted).
