The public library.
My local library is part of a larger network, and you can do interlibrary loan through the website. The network has pretty much everything in terms of books on tape/cd, and they'll deliver to your local branch. It's like a free netflix.

I was hoping for something like that. I never even thought of the interlibrary loan system for audiobooks.
Thanks

If you are up for downloading and burning to CD (or importing mp3s directly into your iPod-like-thingamahookie) try these (all free and legal):

Or if you want to pay, audible.com has an excellent service. $15/mo (approx) for one book per month. Or pay as you go. There's a more expensive service that lets you get 2 books per month, but I don't know how much that costs, because I don't use that one.

I've used audible too. It's a good service. I got rid of it during a massive cost cutting crusade only because there were cheaper (if less convenient) ways to get audiobooks. I also just like small tracks on cds instead of the massive whoppers you tend to get from downloadable audio.

Just happened to notice that my public library's website has free audio book downloads. Might be worth checking your own Library.

There's also podiobooks.com. Some are not very good, but some are fantastic.

This site offers superb audio book rentals. I haven't used them because I'm in Germany and they are US-based, but I'd love to. Maybe there's something there for American rangers:

I'm an avid audiobook listener. I get many from the library and have an Audible membership. My other favorite place to get books and audios is Paperbackswap.com, a free book swapping site (you just pay postage to mail books that others want and can order books in return.)
