Urban ranger is an inspirational metaphor to get you walking. Warning: there is poetry involved. Discuss it here.

tendonitis

Post by mrsj » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:56 am

I have been urban rangeing every day. Because I'm too heavy for my joints and tendons, I have tendonitis along both shins and my knees are killing me! I have tried to start slowly, only rangeing for about 20 minuts at a time. I don't know what to do. Any advice out there?

Maybe take a look at your walking form. If you are walking with a heel to toe method, you are putting a lot of stress and shock on your knees/back (irregardless of the amount of cushion on your shoe - I can cite studies if you like.) You might want to take a look at Chi Walking (Danny Dryer) -- or at least the idea of it - walking with a mid-foot to light heel stride and slightly leaning forward (keeping your feet always under your center of mass).

Thank you frugaltexan. I've tried Chi walking and it's helped an awful lot. Again, thank you.
