kristine's not quite daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

kristine's not quite daily check in

Post by kristine » Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:09 pm

First real check in after week 3. A once a week check in on Monday morning will work the best for me since my schedule is weid and unpredictable. Daily might be too much to keep up with, and Monday morning seems like it would be a good day to come clean about the debauchery of the weekend.

Starting weight 185
Week 3- 181.2

All I can say is YAY! More later when I don't have to get ready for work...

Week 4 - while within the rules of normal S Days, this weekend was tough. Friday, birthday party and Saturday went to an even with all kinds of indulgences. And drank a bit too much.

Sunday and MOnday, back on the wagon.

Monday am weigh in: 184
Tuesday am weigh in: 182.2

Lots of inspiration to do better this week. Good luck all!

So much for Mondays check ins!

Its Wednesday... and after another up and down week, morning check in is 182.0

I'm pretty happy with that. No-S doesn't feel like a habit yet, but its becoming more "normal". I can get a lot on a plate, but then feel gross about it later. Normal is becoming to "eat what makes you happy" as long as its on one plate. A few minor blips on the radar screen, but so far so good.

Honestly, haven't posted in a while because I was getting a bit discouraged. Weight was fluctuating up and down... back to start weight, rollig around. Had one or two unplanned S-Days (thank goodness for flexibility!!) and while I've been sticking to one plate, those choices haven't always been exactly wise.

Yesterday I hopped on the scale... after a pizza lunch, a few days of being moapy about no progress and got a solid 181.0. How the heck did that happen? Its going to be a slow process, but a good one, and a fun one! But nothing seems as encouraging as a little, tiny bit of suprise progress.

Work has been bizarre and hectic lately... but I've been committed to taking lunch with me, allowing a day a week to go out with work friends for lunch (yesterday). I really, really look forward to it now... its a special treat, it saves me $$ and gives me a little will power to make myself a nice lunch for the lunch box.

Urban rangering... here, its suburban rangering... or even rural rangering. I have horses, dogs and a burro... who has been my adventure friend for many outings. One day, I'll get a pic...

Anyways... its tiny, but its good news! I'll take it.

In keeping with the not quite daily theme... here goes with a not quite daily update. Went to a friends bachelorette party out of town and survived a Nevada casino buffett with a plate and a half of victuals. It was an S Day (not only her bachelorette party by my big 40th B-Day)... but it was neat to see how the full reflex kicked in and I couldn't make it past a plate and a half. YAY! Dessert would have been allowed but there was just no desire for it. Neat!

I won't get into what happened to the glass ceiling. Uuuugh. But I did somehow grow the willpower not to get completely WASTED but happily buzzed then stop. Drink water. Enjoy the evening. Fantastic.

Tuesday morning... this morning... the scale was sitting at 179.8. I'm elated! Its not a huge drop from last check in, but its SOMETHING. And the first time I've been below 180 in several years. Happy Day!

The idea of delayed gratification and small victories that happen with No S is really growing on me especially in other parts of my life. Anyone else finding that?

That is such a cool part of the country. Keep up the great work with No-S - you're doing really well!
