Jaime's Daily Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Jaime's Daily Check In

Post by jaimehamp » Sat Apr 20, 2013 8:22 pm

I'm starting No S on Monday and know that I'm going to need extra accountability to keep me on track. I've been cycling between binges and crazy strict diets and have gained about 10 pounds in the past year. I'm ready for stability. I don't plan to weigh...this isn't really so much about losing weight as it is gaining control over my food obsession. Whether I'm on a binge or diet, food is still controlling my thoughts. I'm ready to learn a normal, healthy way of eating that doesn't require much thought. No S seems to be the way to go.

I'll start posting daily on Monday.

Yesterday was a fail, but I'm on track today. I'm going for 21 straight days of no-s success.

Breakfast: Bagel with cream cheese, coffee
Lunch: ground beef nachos, diet coke
Afternoon: coffee
Dinner: Egg Salad, crackers, grapes

I'm not worrying too much about nutrition right now, just trying to get the habit formed in my brain.
