Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Sillymonkey29 check in

Hi all,

I am day 4 on the plan with 3 successes. I started Sunday. I was posting in general discussion by mistake.
I am happy to be able to eat meals without worrying about how many calories are in the oil in my dish. It got to the point where I was about to ask my husband, who often cooks, to count tablespoons of oil and ingredients he puts in his meals. Glad to have a more socially acceptable diet. Dinner portions look a little big to me, but I will weigh myself in a month or so to see if I should introduce a mod.

Day 4 was a success!

Portions felt more normal today. Had some lightheadedness between meals. Maybe the answer is more protein? I'm not sure.

. Tomorrow early morning I am leaving for a one month trip to China. I am excited and simultaneously nervous. (First time out of the country)

Thanks for the well wishes!

Thursday was a success. Unfortunately, Friday was a failure. I was offered cut up fruit outside of mealtime and I accepted. Knowing that i failed I had also a small second helping of tofu and green veggie. Was totally delicious, and obviously not a hideous failure.
Need to be better at politely declining. It's hard though, because i am a guest. Maybe virtual plating while in China is a solution?

China is great so far. Suffering jet lag, so a little tired.
