Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

This is it!! 2017 will be my year to get my act together and focus on vanilla No S! I have been working on detoxing from weight watchers this past month! I have family coming in for a last hoorah tomorrow and then I will be off and running on my first No S day on Tuesday! This is all about focusing.on habit one day at a time until the days start stringing together. Habit, habit, habit!

Hi Tobias mom!
The answer to your question is YES!! I am still fighting the urge to return to ww! I actually enjoyed going to the meetings every week and I KNOW that it works for me SHORT term, but I also absolutely positively can NOT stick with the tedious counting and measuring and thinking about food 24/7 for the rest of my life. The thought of even doing that for a week right now makes me nauseous. Lol. I hope with time the pull to go back to ww will be less and less appealing to me.
Did you read through this post?
https://everydaysystems.com/bb/viewtopi ... 48416cdd7a
I need to link it here at the top of this thread so that I have easy reference to it when I get these urges so that I can go back and read it again and again!! This back and forth cycle I have been on for years now is seriously ridiculous!!! I am committing to No S period!.I have pushed my start date up to next Monday.because I go back to work Monday and the kids go back to school. I know some say start today, but even though the concepts of No S are simple, in the beginning implementing them is NOT easy! It will be much easier when I have my normal routine going to begin! Summer will be challenging when I am home again 24/7, but I will have some time under my belt by then! I have still had company in the house this week too.
We are going to FINALLY do this! This is our year! 😊

Yes... simple but not easy!
I wish you the best with NoS this time around. It is really a sane approach!!

Thanks so much for the encouragement Sonya and Merry!!
Happy to report that day 1 is GREEN!!
It actually feels so good to have just one day under my belt! It's a big first step! ....(again)
It was a very busy day. Back to work for me and back to school for my kiddos. That's all for now. Just taking one day at a time!

I started my "love hate" relationship with weight watchers about 40 years ago plus calorie counting and other stuff. You and I are where we should be, and I will stick with this with you.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!!
Day 2 was GREEN!!!
Main obstacles I overcame today was a birthday brownie on my desk. Gulp!
![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)
And, a basketball game without popcorn!! Strengthened my "just do it" muscles!
Beginagain, I will be happy to take this journey with you! My ww history started in 1993 when I became a lifetime member when I lost 15 pounds. I can't even tell you how many times I have been back to ww and how much weight I have lost and gained back with them. 😢 I now am 70 pounds over my ww goal weight I had to reach in 1993 to make lifetime with ww..Apparently it's not working for me! I am committed to leaving that behind and just focusing on these habits!! We've got this!

Great job! Those association foods are hard to resist. Going to the movies without getting popcorn for me takes a Herculean effort but feels great when I can do it.
Keep up the good work. You're off to a great start!
