Latest data is that something like 50% of Americans are either diabetic or prediabetic. Although I'm not sure how they can even know this, because they speculate that 90% of the prediabetics don't know it. That could be a lot of people on our forum that deal with mid-afternoon slumps and/or stubborn weight.
And people are all so different, so there are many that have post-prandial spikes but normal fasting blood glucose, so they wouldn't be alerted by their doctor. What patients really need is to have a fasting insulin drawn along with fasting glucose each year - that would give a much fuller picture of who is insulin resistance (probably something like 60%+ of us - yeeks).

D: Ugh. Social event tonight. White bean chicken chili + squash side dishes + fall desserts. It is an S Day but I really don't want to eat this stuff. I might enjoy the taste-testing competition for the fall desserts. I'm personally bringing egg nog for taste-testing. So maybe I'll just have the green salad + taste-tests.
So, I just scooped out some chicken and broth, then had a big caesar salad, then taste-tested. When I got home, my BG was 127. That was 2 hours post-treats. So I'm pretty sure it was up to at least 140 tonight.
I also had more anxiety during and after the even than normal. I started out fine, but then my anxiety began building. For some reason, I kept worrying that I had underwear lines showing on my pants. ? Weird to worry about that so much. Then my usual worries about talking too much, bla, bla, bla, crept in and by the time I was driving home I was quite confused as to the source of all the fears.
Moving
I'm letting myself off the hook today. If I feel like going on a walk/jog, fine. But I think my body needs rest and I'm not going to push myself. My resting HR has STILL not gone back to normal from when I was sick, even though I've been "better" for 2 weeks.
I did feel up to a nice walk - went for a couple hours w/HappyHerder.
